1. Aims of the English Language Curriculum

•   To provide every student with further opportunities to extend their knowledge and experience of different cultures as well as opportunities for personal and intellectual development, further studies, pleasure, and work in the English medium; and
•   To enable every student to prepare for the changing socio-economic demands resulting from advances in information technology, including interpretation, use, and production of materials for pleasure, study, and work in the English medium.

2. Objectives

• To enhance students’ reading, speaking, and writing competence.
• To promote a positive learning environment where students can learn confidently.
• To strengthen character education.

3. Implementation Plan

• Implement Space Town in Key Stage 1
• Implement Keys 2 in Key Stage 2
• Implement Development of Text Sets (DTS) in Key Stage 2
• Participate in the learning diversity project initiated by The Education University of Hong Kong (English Education for Learning Diversity in Primary Schools) (P.1-P.2)
• Integrate Responsive Classroom (RC) into the English curriculum
• Building Character through Characters: Implementing Social and Emotional Learning in the English Language Classroom through Stories (P.3-P.4)
• Implement a Spelling Bee Challenge (P.1-P.6) to help students to learn to persevere and become responsible learners
• Grow a class plant to enhance responsibility (P.4-P.6)
